This seems to be a pretty nifty gadget, but the user's manual is inadequate, and so is the manufacturer's website. The settings are not explained, and worse, my camera has stopped working. It is displaying an error code and the manual and the website do not have any help.

In this modern web era, manufacturers should do better!

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm having fun with this!, October 9, 2011

I've been using the Wild Game Innovations camera for a couple weeks now and it's caught lots of small animals sneaking around my place: Fox, Coyotes, and Raccoons so far. I have it set it to only take pictures at night and it seems to start working about an hour before it gets dark, which is OK with me. I have the PIR sensitivity set on "high", and it detects motion out to at least fifty feet. The IR flash is only good out to about thirty feet, though, so when a critter is too far away, all I get is the reflection of its' eyes. For best results at night, the "target" needs to be at a distance no closer than 10' and no further than 30' to get a good photo; Too close and the image is washed out - Too far away and the image is very dark. It should be mentioned that the camera switches to black-and-white at night, but during daylight hours the photos are in living color. There seems to be a 1+/- second delay between detecting motion and the picture actually being taken, so a fast-moving... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Control, September 29, 2011

For the one day it worked, it provided decent day and night pictures but poor photos during the transition between the two. The daylight pictures were more than adequate and a rabbit at about 15 feet was sufficient to set it off. We never did see what triggered the night photos but it showed objects out to 40 feet or so and we had no real issues with the photo quality. During sunset hours, it seemed not to know quite how to handle the lighting and we had "whiteout" which pretty much made any pictures worthless. And then it broke. For some reason, all pictures were neatly bifurcated and one side had fine quality while on the other side of a wide vertical white line was a purple tinged shadow of a photo. We moved the camera, changed cards, the usual things but the problem stayed so we returned it for a refund. Without the failure, I would probably rate it 3 to 3.5 stars dinging it for the poor performance during day to night transition. With the failure, I may be being generous giving... Read more
